Career Development Workshop Success
Career Development Programme a Huge Success with Grade 12 Learners. Protec Pietermaritzburg Academy held their annual Career Development week from the 4th – 8th April 2011. Local Career Development Company, Careers by Design was called upon to conduct a career management and self motivational seminar with the Grade 12’s. The initiative was co-ordinated by Protec Executive Director , Mrs Rose Smuts with Assistance from Ms Kaylene Goosen, Deputy Principal at Haythorne High School and Tutor for Protec. Over 40 learners participated in the initiative. The brief was to ensure that the Grade 12’s were adequately prepared for the challenges that lay ahead both professionally and personally. Career Coach, Anna Martyn focused on basic career management planning, self motivation with a strong emphasis being placed on the world of work. Topics also covered which proved significant where: Work Ethics, Work Excellence, Appearance, Behaviour and Communication. Feedback from the Seminar was positive, with learners feeling self empowered and motivated for what lies ahead.
